Day 10: Back Forty's Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale

This is the second offering from Back Forty. I enjoyed their porter on day 2.

I wanted to like this beer. One of my favourite beers this past year, at least when I've been able to get it on tap, is Granville Island's Honey Lager. I also like Sleeman's Honey Brown. But in the same way that the hoppiness of the last one was just too much of a good thing, this beer is too sweet. Mead I say more? (okay, that was bad)

In fact, it's like a fruit beer without the fruit flavour, which is the only good part of a fruit beer. I kept sipping. I tried cleansing my palate with different foods. Cheese, even. No dice. My palate is cloyed.

I didn't like the last one, and gave it no tankards. No tankards for this one, either. Opposite end of the spectrum, but I'll take the hoppy over the sappy. I couldn't even finish it. There has to be some pairing that works with this, right? Anybody know?
